If you can't wait until Boxing Day for action-packed cricket, Cricket Australia might soon have you sorted.

After the success of a Big Bash double-header on Boxing Day night, Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg hasn't ruled out the potential for a festive BBL match on Christmas Day in future seasons.

Speaking to SEN  on Saturday morning, Greenberg admitted the idea had been given serious consideration by Cricket Australia.

"It's a live conversation," Greenberg said.

"My personal view is I think that would be a brilliant slot in the right market with the right teams.

"Clearly we have to work through [that] with the ACA (Australian Cricketers' Association) and the players because we need to work with them on that. But we're actively engaged in conversations about that as we speak.

"We've got a couple of models that we're testing and again, we need to work with the players because I don't want the players to feel like this has been imposed on them. I want the players to feel like they're part of something special and we're creating another occasion."

Sport on Christmas Day has been a huge success in America over the years with the NBA and NFL, but has only recently been introduced in Australia, with the NBL fixturing a Christmas game every year since 2022.
