Outraged Big Bash fans have accused umpires of ruining 2017 – and the entire concept of New Year’s Eve – after a questionable call sent Brisbane Heat gun Chris Lynn packing for a duck against the Adelaide Strikers.

Lynn was given out caught-behind in just the second over of the Heat's chase attempting to drive a tempting delivery from spinner Rashid Khan.
Both bowler and keeper immediately went up for a spirited appeal and the umpire raised the finger to leave the Heat reeling at 2-8 in in reply to the Strikers’ modest total of 7-147.
But replays showed Lynn more than likely hit the pitch - not the ball.
