Australian cricket captain Alyssa Healy has announced she will retire from all forms of cricket following the upcoming multi-format series against India.

After making her national team debut in 2010, the 35-year-old batter/wicketkeeper will end her international career with more than 7,000 runs and 275 dismissals along with an array of individual awards and records.

Healy was the 2019 Belinda Clark Medalist, the ICC Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year in 2018 and 2019, and was part of Australia’s 2022 Commonwealth Games gold medal winning T20 team in Birmingham.

“Alyssa is one of the all-time greats of the game and has made an immeasurable contribution both on and off the field,” Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg said on news of Healy’s upcoming retirement.

“We look forward to celebrating her achievements throughout the series against India.”

Healy’s final appearance will be the one-off Test match against India at the WACA in Perth, beginning on March 6.

Five defining moments from Alyssa Healy’s glittering 15-year career

1. Record-breaking 170 in the 2022 ODI World Cup Final

Healy scored a match-winning 170 against England in the 2022 ODI World Cup final in Christchurch, NZ—still the highest individual score in any cricket World Cup final, men’s or women’s.

2. ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 Player of the Tournament

Across the entire 2022 tournament Healy was in a class of her own, amassing 509 runs with several crucial innings including centuries in both the semi final and final to power Australia to victory.

3. Epic ODI World Cup run chase (2025)

In the 2025 ODI World Cup in India, Healy blasted 142 off 107 balls to anchor the innings as Australia chased down 331 against India. At the time it was the highest successful run chase in women’s ODI history. It was also Healy’s first century as Australian ODI captain.

4. Highest score in women’s T20I internationals, 148*

Healy’s destructive 148 not out against Sri Lanka at North Sydney Oval in 2019 remains the highest individual score in women’s T20 internationals by a player from a full ICC member nation.

5. Ashes whitewash in 2024/25

Healy was appointed Australia’s full-time captain following the retirement of Meg Lanning and led the team to an historic 16-0 Ashes victory over England in 2024-25. A clean sweep across all three formats, Healy described the whitewash as one of the best achievements in her career.
