Nicolson (14-1) was the interim WBC featherweight champion but earned full-time status after Amanda Serrano relinquished the belt. The 2018 Commonwealth Games gold medalist lost the title to Tiara Brown at the start of 2025 but has since won two straight at super bantamweight.
The Meadowbrook-born fighter hopes to face Ellie Scotney, who needs one win to become undisputed, for all the gold with a win. Nicolson is ready to prove she belongs at super bantamweight, while also hoping to showcase her power in this fight.
"In the last two fights, I was able to see what went wrong and try new things and get it right. I really feel like I did that," Nicolson told BoxingScene. "I went into both those fights in July and August feeling the best I’ve ever felt going into a fight – not just physically but mentally, as well. And going in with a different mindset; going in with more intent.
"I never really went into fights with the intent to hurt my opponents, and stop my opponents and get them out of there. That’s changed now. That’s been a bit of a lightbulb moment for me."
Luna (28-4-1) is a former WBC bantamweight and IBF super bantamweight champion. The Mexican fighter lost the former belt against Dina Thorslund and has since won three straight. "La Cobrita" looks to return to her dominant ways at super bantamweight at the expense of Nicolson.
