Benavidez (30-0) is a two-time WBC super middleweight champion. The 28-year-old moved to light heavyweight and beat Oleksandr Gvozdyk for the interim WBC belt. He successfully defended it against David Morrell before becoming the full-time champion.
After a fight against Canelo Alvarez never materialized, Benavidez is forming his own path to greatness. It all starts with a win against a credible opponent at light heavyweight.
"This is a perfect opponent for me to showcase my skills and my talents," Benavidez told The Ring. "Anthony Yarde is a great fighter. He's a tough veteran, but I'm just on a different level right now.
"I have everything. I have speed, I have defense, and I have the skills and confidence. This fight is going to be a hard fight. I know Anthony Yarde is going to come in there and give everything, but I just feel like I'm going to show what level I'm on November 22nd."
The Hackney-born Yarde (27-3) has fought for light heavyweight gold twice, his most recent quest for gold being a loss against Artur Beterbiev in 2023. Since then, he has won four straight, beating Lyndon Arthur in April.
Now getting another crack at a title, the 34-year-old believes he’ll get the job done on fight night.
"I feel like fine wine, I get better with time! That’s the saying isn’t it?! But I feel like it’s shown in my career… I just feel within myself I am ready," Yarde told The Independent.
