Jake Paul boxing match: Aussie successfully defends title on undercard  image

As boxing fans eagerly await the Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua fight, an Aussie has stolen the show on the undercard.

Cherneka Johnson successfully defended her bantamweight world titles against Canadian fighter Amanda Galle, winning via unanimous decision.

The three judges scored the match 99-91, 98-92, 97-93, all in Johnson's favour,

The fight was a graphic contest, with Johnson cut open right from the first round.

Sensing the fight was slipping away from her, Galle aggressively looked to knock out Johnson in the 10th and final round, but the Aussie was able to stay composed and see out the fight. 

After connecting on a number of hooks early in the fight, Johnson was confident the scoring would go her way.

"I was still confident I was winning all the rounds," she said after the fight.

"I didn't get the job done as early as we planned, but we still got the job done.

"I was bleeding first, and then I saw her bleeding and the blood all over the ring, and I thought, here we go, here's another bloodbath."

With win Johnson now boasts an impressive 19-2 professional record.
