As the trade period looms, a number of AFL clubs have money to spend and one position that is always in demand is talent through the midfield.
That brings us to Zak Butters, one of the most highly sought players by opposition clubs and a name that just keeps popping up in trade speculation.
The 24-year-old Port Adelaide star is coming off another strong campaign, averaging 28 disposals and almost seven clearances across his 20 games for the season.
Off-contract at the end of 2026, Butters is in high demand and Power great Kane Cornes appears resigned to the fact one of the club's most important players will be leaving at some point.

“Yeah, I think so,” he said on SEN. “That’s the feeling I get.
"Because if he was going to stay, he’s never going to be worth more than he is right now.
“You’d take the (Nasiah) Wanganeen-Milera offer, which was two and a half (million) for two years, reportedly.
"So that’s $5 million in the first two years and then $1.3 (million) for the next eight or nine.
“He could get that deal right now if he wanted to. He’s as good a prospect as Wanganeen-Milera for the next two years."
Butters grew up in Bacchus Marsh outside Melbourne and played in the TAC Cup before being taken by Port with the 12th pick in the 2018 draft.
Victorian clubs Hawthorn, Geelong and the Western Bulldogs are among those believed to be monitoring Butters' future.
Cornes said incoming coach Josh Carr needs to be doing all he can to retain the two-time All-Australian and dual best and fairest.
“I think it would be a disaster for the new coach to lose your best player,” Cornes said.
“So, he’s under contract and I wouldn’t be letting him go yet if I was Josh Carr, just for the look of it.
“This time next year is a different story.”
