It was an emotional return for luckless Sydney defender Alex Johnson - capped off by a brilliant moment.

After 1736 days having not completed a game of football, Johnson played for the Swans' NEAFL side - after undergoing five knee reconstructions and countless setbacks since being drafted in 2010.

Johnson's comeback was capped off with a goal in the first quarter, with his teammates mobbing the 25-year-old to show their support.

There is still a long way to go but hopefully Johnson can finally add to the 45 AFL games he has played and become a mainstay in the Sydney backline.
