Time moves fast in the AFL, with Tom Mitchell's Wikipedia page already referring to him as a "former professional Australian rules footballer".
But if the 32-year-old has his way, his Wiki page will need to be updated soon as he chases another opportunity with a fourth AFL club.
Mitchell has enjoyed an outstanding 207-game career with the Swans, Hawks and Pies, winning a premiership in 2023, a Brownlow Medal, two All-Australians and three club best and fairests with Hawthorn.
After playing 26 games in Collingwood's flag-winning season, injuries reduced him to just six games the following year and he struggled to break into the midfield in 2025, making just four senior appearances.

He played well in the VFL and feels fit and ready to contribute to another team if given the opportunity.
Mitchell also intimated his best fit might be with a younger, less established list.
“I’ve been playing for a long time,” Mitchell told SEN WA. “Fourteen years, I have experienced the pinnacle of footy, winning and losing grand finals.
“I still think my body is in great condition. Experience sometimes you can’t buy.
“If I do get a fourth club it would be the opportunity to give back.
"I’ve learnt from the game's greats and I have a good knowledge and I hope to pass these things on.”
Mitchell conceded he wasn't surprised to receive the news of his delisting from Collingwood, along with Mason Cox, and while he was disappointed he made the decision not to "sook".
Having finished off high school in Perth, Mitchell knows that city and felt the Eagles could be a good fit for his fourth AFL stop.
“When (manager Tom Petroro) is back the word is he will meet with all the clubs and assess what interest is out there," Mitchell said.
"I am open to anything and I have a couple of great years left in me.
“West Coast would be amazing. They’re a proud big club and I have family and friends there.”
