Sydney’s forward line has taken an unexpected hit, with Jack Buller sealing a move to Collingwood despite the Swans’ efforts to keep him. The 24-year-old departs after two seasons at the club, with the Magpies parting ways with a future third-round pick in exchange for Buller and a future fourth.
The move comes just as speculation grows around a possible Sydney move for Carlton star Charlie Curnow, but for now, it’s Collingwood who have filled a crucial hole in attack.
Buller’s arrival adds much-needed height following Brody Mihocek’s switch to Melbourne, and the Magpies see the tall forward as a long-term investment.
Collingwood secure “strong marking” forward
Collingwood list boss Justin Leppitsch praised Buller’s combination of strength, pressure, and precision. “Jack is a tall forward who has strong marking ability and is accurate in front of goals,” Leppitsch said on Wednesday.
“For a tall player, Jack's high pressure and competitive playing style were attractive attributes for us. At 24, Jack has a lot of football ahead of him, and we look forward to seeing where he can take his football with the support of those inside our Club.”
A product of Western Australia, Buller joined Sydney as a mid-season draftee in 2023 but managed only one game before breaking through late in 2025, kicking 11 goals across nine appearances under Dean Cox.
Sydney’s Leon Cameron thanked him for his contribution, saying, “We wish Jack all the best for the next chapter of his football career.”
