North Melbourne claim consecutive AFLW premierships against Brisbane, extend unbeaten streak image

North Melbourne have extended their unbeaten streak to 27 games to claim back-to-back AFLW premierships against the Brisbane Lions.

It was the third straight time the two sides have squared off in the decider, with the Kangaroos avenging their loss in the first meeting to win the next two.

After surviving a tough battle last week against Melbourne, the Roos were again on the back foot early, conceding the first goal of the game.

Some straight kicking allowed them to respond convincingly though, as after five straight majors and no behinds, they took a 30-8 lead into halftime.

The Lions promised a response coming out of the main break, but weren't able to deliver despite having more inside-50s in the third quarter.

The Roos would eventually pile on the goals in the fourth quarter to win, 9.2.56 to 2.4.16.

Eilish Sheerin was voted the best player afield, as she kicked two goals and collected 28 disposals while laying 11 tackles.

She was well-supported by Jenna Bruton, who kicked three goals, and Ash Riddell who finished with 38 disposals.
