Brisbane star Lachie Neale could pursue a sensational move back to Western Australia at the end of the 2026 season with either Fremantle or West Coast.
The Lions gun relinquished the captaincy on Friday after publicly revealing he was responsible for the breakdown of his relationship with wife Jules.
It has been reported that Jules and the Neale children have moved back to Western Australia.
With restricted agent Neale's contract at Brisbane expiring at the end of this season, the 32-year-old wouldn't commit to staying at the Lions long-term.

Intriguingly, a return to his former club Fremantle was floated in 2021 before the midfield star decided to remain at Brisbane.
“I’m going to be here (in Brisbane) this year coming up. Fully committed to putting everything I can into footy,” Neale said in a press conference.
“I feel that it’s going to be a great outlet for me, to be honest, with everything going on, I’m really confident I can play some really good footy this year.
“I haven’t really considered that (his future) yet. I think my (contract) decision was always going to be put on hold regardless so we’ll work that out over the next six months basically. We’ve got a bit of time.”
Both the Dockers and Eagles would be keen to recruit Neale, with Fremantle likely in the box seat with his previous ties to the club and their position to challenge for success.
With Neale being a restricted free agent, the Lions would have the ability to match any deal put forward by the Dockers or Eagles.
But with Neale being a dual premiership and Brownlow Medal-winning captain of the club, Brisbane could look after the veteran with a move back to WA.
