A reported Silvagni reunion at Moorabbin may ultimately prove to be a gift for Carlton.

St Kilda have continued their hot start to the off-season, following on from the signing of Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, the inevitable acquisition of Tom De Koning and the potential addition of premiership Eagle Liam Ryan - signaling a clear shift in the club's push for immediate success.

But now they have their eyes on yet another departing Blue.

"St Kilda’s interest in Jack Silvagni has really ramped up in the last few days," Tom Morris of Channel Nine said on Footy Furnace last night.

"I think St Kilda’s offer, according to rival clubs, is somewhere between $800,000 and $850,000 a year for five years.”

Silvagni would be another piece of an expensive yet impressive start to the off-season for St Kilda.

But the reported price tag for Silvagni will pique Carlton fans’ interest.

An offer of that price would trigger a band one compensation for Carlton, giving them a first-round pick.

If both Silvagni and De Koning are signed for their reported figures, Carlton could enter the 2025 AFL Draft with two first-round picks.

Carlton currently do not own their own first-round pick for this season, after trading it away to Hawthorn in a pick swap last season.

While Carlton did not want to lose Silvagni or De Koning, if they are able to recoup two first-round picks for the departing pair, it will give the club a strong hand in an important draft.

As it currently stands, Carlton owns pick 34, 44 and 62.

But the importance of draft capital will only increase, with only two drafts remaining until Tasmania enter the competition in 2028.

Whilst numerous other clubs such as Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs are still interested in acquiring the services of Silvagni, the price tag that St Kilda have offered could force all interested parties to raise their offer - and guarantee the Blues a much needed draft gift.
