Pick 103: Player traded for late pick in weird AFL trade image

Fremantle has traded Will Brodie to Port Adelaide for pick 103 in what is one of the weirdest trades of all time.

Brodie has played 54 games so far in his career for Gold Coast and Fremantle, playing 25 games in five seasons for the Suns and 29 games for the Dockers in four seasons there.

The 27-year-old fell out of favour with the Dockers and didn't play a game for the Western Australian team in the last two seasons.

He dominated his first season at the club, playing 24 games for Freo in 2022, averaging 26.8 disposals and collecting 11 Brownlow votes along the way.

Brodie played 45 games for Fremantle's WAFL team, Peel Thunder, including their 2024 premiership win, where he had 18 disposals.

This is just the third trade involving a pick in the triple figures, joining the 2016 trade in which North Melbourne traded pick 105 to Collingwood for Marley Williams and a three-team trade in 2009 that included pick 118.

Port Adelaide will add Brodie to their trade acquisitions alongside Jacob Wehr (GWS) and Corey Durdin (Carlton), joining the club ahead of Josh Carr's first season coaching the Power.
