Jack Silvagni and Tom De Koning are expected to be St Kilda players after the paperwork for their free agency moves from Carlton to the Saints was lodged with the AFL.

Whilst the Blues can match the contract for De Koning, they are expected not to, which will see them receive a first-round pick in return.

Silvagni, who will leave Carlton, a place where his grandfather and father were both icons, will join the Saints as an unrestricted free agent, with his move to St Kilda now confirmed.

Stephen Silvagni, Jack's father, is currently working at the Saints in their list management and will see the two reunite at a football club since their time at the Blues from 2016 to 2019.

When De Koning announced his intention to join the Saints, St Kilda's then executive general manager of football, David Misson, said the club was excited to have him.

“We’re very pleased that Tom has nominated St Kilda as the club where he wishes to continue his career.

“As Tom is a restricted free agent, Carlton will have the opportunity to match our offer once formally submitted. That is part of the process and something we are fully respectful of."

Misson also commented on Silvagni joining the club in a short statement released by the Saints in early September.

“We’re very pleased that Jack has nominated St Kilda as the club where he wishes to continue his career.

“As Jack is an unrestricted free agent, he will be entitled to accept our offer once formally submitted during the free agency window in October. We need to respect this process.

“With the official player movement period still several weeks away, we will not be commenting further at this time.”
