A busy Friday has seen four players' free agency paperwork lodged with Hawthorn's James Worpel and GWS Giants' Jacob Wehr, the latest two players.

The day started with Tom De Koning and Jack Silvagni joining St Kilda from Carlton before Worpel and Wehr's paperwork was lodged not too long after.

Worpel is set to join grand finalists Geelong from Hawthorn, with the Hawks having three days to decide whether to match a bid on him due to the midfielder being a restricted free agent.

His contract at the Cats is believed to be on a four-year deal, according to AFL.com.au journalist Callum Twomey, with the Hawks having the option to bid on him or let him go and receive compensation.

Worpel played 148 games for the Hawks after being selected with pick 45 in the 2017 national draft, with the 26-year-old's move to the Cats being reported on since early August.

Jacob Wehr will join Port Adelaide as an unrestricted free agent from the GWS Giants after playing 39 games for the club.

Wehr was a mature-aged recruit and was selected with pick 59 in the 2020 national draft, but had been delisted by the Giants and redrafted in the rookie draft in 2022.

Port Adelaide list manager Jason Cripps said Wehr will add depth to the club when Wehr announced his intention to join the club in early September.

"We're delighted that Jacob has chosen Port Adelaide as the club where he wants to continue his AFL career," Cripps said in a press release from Port Adelaide.

"As an unrestricted free agent, Jacob will be entitled to accept our offer once it's formally submitted during the free agency window in October.

"Jacob is an outstanding person who we believe will add valuable depth to our list and complement our existing midfield group."
