AFL club considering lifeline for former Collingwood star Jaidyn Stephenson image

Just a year after walking away from professional football, Jaidyn Stephenson's quest to return to the AFL could be given life, with Port Adelaide considering giving the 26-year-old a second chance, according to a latest report.

At the conclusion of 2024 season, Stephenson stepped away from AFL football after 122 games, citing that he'd lost the passion to play at the level.

Stephenson returned to local footy in 2025, plying his trade for Ferntree Gully in Eastern Football Netball League in south-eastern Victoria.

It was previously reported in September however, that Stephenson was looking to return to the big leagues, reaching out to several AFL clubs. Now, one of those clubs, Port Adelaide, is seriously considering the possibility of adding Stephenson to their list, according to a report from Code Sports'  Glenn McFarlane and Jon Ralph.

"Former Collingwood and North Melbourne forward Jaidyn Stephenson is among a raft of summer train-on possibilities being considered by Port Adelaide," the report read.

"Code Sports understands that the Power has been looking at Stephenson in recent weeks, but have yet to commit to letting him train on with the club during the pre-season."

Stephenson experienced a turbulent time during his days as an AFL footballer.

Initially bursting onto the scene for Collingwood in 2018, Stephenson exploded in his first year for the Pies, kicking 38 goals, including two in a losing Grand Final.

The year after though he was suspended for 12 games after being involved in a betting scandal.

He would make his way to Arden Street ahead of the 2021 season, playing four seasons at North Melbourne, but only booting 56 goals from 68 games.
