Melbourne has reportedly shortlisted six people in their search for a new coach, with hopes they can appoint a coach before the AFL grand final.
Simon Goodwin was sacked after nine seasons at the Demons, with the 2021 premiership coach told his time was up earlier this month.
Acclaimed journalist Josh Gabelich told SEN Crunch Time that the shortlist is down to six names, with Melbourne CEO Paul Guerra confirming the Dees had the shortlist finalised.
“He (Guerra) did confirm that the shortlist has been finalised,” Gabelich said.

“Still trying to work through who these names are, but what we do know is that Nathan Buckley, Hayden Skipworth, Corey Enright and Steven King are the names that they’ve met with.
“So again, Melbourne (is) looking to get a move on this now. They have spent the last fortnight meeting with up to 15 different assistant coaches just for informal catch-ups and coffees."
Gabelich said Western Bulldog's midfield coach Brendon Lade was also interviewed, while Seven's journalist Mitch Cleary has reported Brisbane's Danny Daly won't take part in the Demons coaching search.
Nathan Buckley was Collingwood's coach until 2021 and is seen as the frontrunner for the job, with the Demons reportedly wanting an experienced coach.
Hayden Skipworth is the senior assistant midfield coach at Collingwood, Corey Enright is the head of game plan and strategy at St Kilda, while Steven King is an assistant coach at Geelong.
The Demons finished the season in 14th position with just seven wins and hope to finalise their coach in late September.
