Bailey Smith slammed for homophobic comment by AFL's first bisexual player image

Geelong star Bailey Smith is under fire once again after being accused of homophobia by the AFL's first bisexual player Mitch Brown.

In a now deleted Instagram post, Smith made reference to the move Brokeback Mountain in a caption of a photo with himself and Geelong captain Patrick Dangerfield at the Cats' Mad Monday celebrations.

The caption stated: "or Brokeback Mountain depends how ya look at it."

Brown - a former West Coast Eagles defender - revealed his sexuality in the public earlier this season - becoming the first player to state their bisexuality.

After seeing Smith's social media, Brown used his on Instagram account to criticise the gun midfielder for the Brokeback Mountain reference.

“In all seriousness though, guys do better,” Brown wrote on his Instagram story.

“Last time I checked, losing a grand final doesn’t make you gay, but being homophobic definitely makes you a loser.”

In addition to a derogatory post about journalist Caroline Wilson, Smith also made a reference to Carlton forward Charlie Curnow, who reportedly wants a trade to Geelong

Smith posted a screenshot of Tom De Koning and Ollie Dempsey arriving for the party in an Aston Martin to his Instagram stories and added the caption: "We're taking the chopper in next year @charliecurnow."

Curnow has of course been linked with the Cats and Smith - who is sponsored personally by Cotton On - thought it would be funny to make a reference to next year's Mad Monday party.
