Just weeks after Zach Merrett relinquished his role as captain, Essendon have decided on a replacement.
Former number one overall pick Andrew McGrath will fill the void the club announced, after a 180-game career in the red and black.
McGrath becomes the 42nd captain in club history, after previously serving as vice-captain under Merrett.
McGrath will be joined in the leadership group alongside the injured Nic Martin, Kyle Langford, Jye Caldwell, Sam Durham, Mason Redman, and new recruit Brayden Fiorini.
