Brisbane have become the first club to win five premierships this century, defeating Geelong by 47 points at the MCG to claim their second consecutive Grand Final.
After a hot start and plenty of lead changes, the sides couldn’t be split at the main break, but it was all the Lions after the restart, with their midfield and small forwards running over the top of the hapless Cats.

Who won the 2025 Norm Smith Medal
Will Ashcroft has gone back-to-back, becoming a two-time Norm Smith Medal winner at just 21 years old.
Ashcroft joins Gary Ayres, Andrew McLeod, Luke Hodge and Dustin Martin (3) as the only multiple winners of the prestigious honour.
Plenty of Ashcroft’s Lions teammates made strong cases for themselves to take home Norm, including Charlie Cameron and Hugh McCluggage with four goals, while Jaspa Fletcher, Harris Andrews and Darcy Gardiner were all hugely influential.

The Brisbane midfielder was in everything as his side ran out dominant winners over Geelong to claim a second-straight premiership.
Ashcroft finished with 32 disposals, 10 clearances, eight tackles, three goal assists and one major for himself in yet another sublime performance.

Norm Smith Medal voting system
The five panellists award votes on a 3-2-1 system to the players they deem best afield.
Of those five, one is designated as panel chair, whose votes will decide the winner if there's a tie after two rounds of countbacks.
What happens if there's a tie?
If two players are tied for votes, a countback will occur.
The player with the higher number of three-votes will win. If that's also tied then:
The player with the higher number of two-votes will win. If that's tied then:
The votes of the chairperson will determine the winner.
Has there been a tie before?
In the 2009 grand final, Geelong were victorious over St Kilda by 12 points in a famous game.
Paul Chapman (Geelong) and Jason Gram (St Kilda) were tied with nine votes apiece, but the Norm Smith was awarded to Chapman on a countback.
Who presented the Norm Smith Medal in 2025?
Hodge, who won the Norm Smith Medal in 2008 and 2014 was given the honour of presenting the 2025 winner with their medal.
