Brisbane premiership hero requests trade as weird stat lives on image

Two-time Brisbane premiership hero Callum Ah Chee has requested a trade away from the club, with a weird stat living on because of it.

Ah Chee played in the Lions' 47-point win against Geelong in the grand final, collecting 17 disposals and kicking two behinds.

He has requested a trade to Adelaide, with AFL.com.au journalist Callum Twomey reporting that the Crows have offered Ah Chee a five-year deal.

The 27-year-old has played 124 games of his 169 career games for the Lions since being traded from Gold Coast at the end of the 2019 season.

He played 45 games for the Suns after being selected with pick 8 in the 2015 national draft by Gold Coast.

The two-time premiership winner kicked four goals in the Lions' 60-point win against Sydney in the grand final last year, which saw him come third in the Norm Smith Medal.

If Ah Chee is traded from Brisbane, it means a peculiar statistic among premiership teams will continue to persist.

The stat being that no premiership side has ever played together in another game after winning the grand final

Looking back at the last three years. Lion Joe Daniher retired after last year's grand final, Premiership Pie Jack Ginnivan was traded to Hawthorn after the 2023 premiership, and Joel Selwood retired after his fairytale finish.

A weird stat that will somehow continue for another year.
