The Fever are without Caitlin Clark, but that didn't matter as Indiana blew out the Sky in Chicago, 79-52.

From the get-go, the Fever had control of the game, as Aaliyah Boston scored the first points of the game and Indiana never trailed. Led by Kelsey Mitchell, who scored a game-high 17 points, the Fever had three quarters of at least 20 points while playing stifling defense, holding the Sky to no more than 15 points each quarter.

Aari McDonald, who the Fever signed on a hardship contract, impressed with 12 points, including nine from deep, as she aims to prove she deserves a season-long deal. Boston and Natasha Howard round out the scoring leaders in the game, producing 11 and 13 points, each.

With the win, Indiana improves to 4-4 are now 2-2 with Clark and 2-2 without her. Clark is expected to be re-evaluated in the coming days, and she could return as early as Tuesday depending on how she feels.

On the other side, the Sky struggled offensively all night as no player on the team reached double-digit points in the game. Angel Reese once again dominated the boards with a game-high 12, but she struggled by only scoring six points while committing three turnovers.

Early in the game, the Sky lost a key piece as veteran guard Courtney VanderSloot went down on a drive with a right knee injury. VanderSloot was in significant pain as she needed to be helped off the court, and Chicago immediately ruled her out for the game.

This marks the end of the Sky's winning streak, as Chicago had won two-straight leading into the contest. They are now 2-5 on the season and are one of three teams yet to reach three wins this year.

This game also counted as part of the WNBA's Commissioner's Cup, the WNBA's in-season tournament taking place throughout the month of July. Tthe Fever are now 2-0 in Commissioner's Cup games, while Chicago is 0-1.

Final: Fever 79, Sky 52

10:08 p.m.: The Fever dribble out the clock, as they finish out a commanding 79-52 victory!

10:06 p.m.: Indiana has settled things down as the clock runs, as the lead is back up to 25 points. 

10:04 p.m.: Aari McDonald ends the run with a three, giving her 12 points on the game.

9:59 p.m.: Chicago's run has reached 9-0, forcing a Fever timeout with the lead up 21. Van Lith now has seven points on four shots.

9:58 p.m.: Chicago has emptied the bench with under five minutes left, giving some younger players a chance at playing time, and that include Hailey Van Lith

9:54 p.m.: The Sky have now scored four-straight points as they are fighting in the fourth quarter.

9:49 p.m.: For the first time tonight, the lead has reached 30 as Indiana takes a 71-41 lead.

9:48 p.m.: Angel Reese has reached double-digit rebounds once again, although not much else is going well for the Sky.

End of Third Quarter: Fever 68, Sky 39

9:42 p.m.: It's been a choppy end to the third quarter between fouls and turnovers on both sides. However, Indiana's lead reaches 29 as the break arrives.

9:32 p.m.: DeWanna Bonner nails a three to extend Indiana's lead to 24 points, the new largest lead of the game.

9:29 p.m.: Indiana now has three players in double-digits, while the Sky are still waiting for their first player to reach 10 points.

9:25 p.m.: Hailey Van Lith completes a three-point play, giving her five points on the game, but Chicago remains down 16.

9:21 p.m.: A Kelsey Mitchell fast break layup increases the lead to 17, as Chicago calls another timeout. Mitchell leads all scorers with 12 points.

9:19 p.m.: Lexie Hull hits her second three of the game, and the Fever lead is now 15 points.

9:16 p.m.: Ariel Atkins has been scorching hot recently, but she is having a tough time this game with three fouls already. 

9:14 p.m.: The second half is underway! Indiana gets the ball looking to extend its lead.

Halftime: Fever 41, Sky 28

8:57 p.m.: Chicago commits a foul with 0.3 seconds left in the half, giving Kelsey Mitchell two free throws. She makes one of two to enter half up 13.

8:55 p.m.: The Fever lead has reached a game-high 13 points as Chicago is still struggling on the offensive end.

8:48 p.m.: Boston now earns an and-one opportunity as she draws a foul on Reese with Indiana up 12.

8:45 p.m.: Aaliyah Boston hasn't scored since the opening bucket and now has more turnovers than points. However, Indiana still has a seven-point lead.

8:38 p.m.: Indiana extends the lead back to nine as Chicago is having trouble finding space on offense, forcing a Sky timeout.

8:33 p.m.: Rebecca Allen opens the second quarter with a three, giving her seven early points as Chicago closes the lead to five. Meanwhile, VanderSloot has been ruled out for the game.

End of first quarter: Fever 21, Sky 13

8:27 p.m.: The Sky are on a 4-0 run as the Fever have gotten a little turnover-prone.

8:20 p.m.: Aari McDonald hits two-straight threes to increase Indiana's lead to eight, then the Fever add another two to make it a clean 10-point advantage.

8:18 p.m.: VanderSloot needed to be helped back the locker room as she couldn't put weight on her right leg.

8:14 p.m.: Sky guard Courtney VanderSloot is down and holding her knee after a non-contact injury, there is timeout as she is looked at by medical staff.

8:11 p.m.: Angel Reese's first points come on a fast break, but the Fever have an early 7-6 lead.

8:08 p.m.:  We are underway from Chicago! Sky turn the ball over on their first possession while Aaliyah Boston gets the game's first points on the other end. 

8:02 p.m.: Fever coach Stephanie White will miss the game for personal reasons, so Austin Kelly will serve as the acting coach.

7:48 p.m.: For Indiana, Sydnie Colson, Kelsey Mitchell, Lexie Hull, Natasha Howard and Aaliyah Boston will get the start.

Is Caitlin Clark playing today?

Clark will miss Saturday's game vs. the Sky, which will mark her fourth-straight missed contest. The Fever point guard suffered a quad strain two weeks ago against the Liberty, and will be reevaluated by the Fever's medical team after the weekend.

On Thursday, Clark said that it is possible she returns on Tuesday against the Dream, although that will depend on how she feels once the weekend is over.

"I've made a lot of progress and I feel good," Clark said, via Chloe Peterson. "But I'm not going to rush my way back if it's not worth it."
