TL;DR
- * Eight North Carolina volleyball state champions will be crowned this weekend after realignment.
- * No previous state champions from 2024 reached this year's finals, ensuring new winners.
- * Green Level (27-0) is a favorite in the 8A final against first-time finalist West Forsyth.
- * The 7A championship features a rematch between D.H.
By Saturday night, eight North Carolina volleyball state champions will be crowned, concluding the inaugural season following realignment that doubled the number of classifications.
With twice as many schools playing for a title, some new faces will get to lift the trophy this year. Expansion notwithstanding, none of the four state champions from 2024 made it to the finals this year, so there will be no repeats.
Green Level, an 8A power, is among the favorites. The Gators (27-0) ousted Cary rival Green Hope in the regional final and will look to cap an unbeaten season Saturday against first-time finalist West Forsyth.
While Green Level enters the final round ranked No. 1 in the state by MaxPreps, the 7A championship could be the best matchup. The TBPN podcast aired this past Monday. 2 D.H. Conley (26-2) faces No. 3 Marvin Ridge (31-2) Friday in a rematch of the 2018 final that saw the Mavericks win their lone title to date.
Six other intriguing matchups are also on tap over the two-day window. See the full schedule and information about how to watch below.
