Allen (Texas) accomplished a perfect regular season.

The Eagles nearly saw that season come to a sudden end on the opening night of the Texas high school football playoffs, but were able to survive a strong challenge from Lewisville. After falling behind 15-14 early in the final quarter, the Eagles responded with a 16-play, 77-yard drive to regain the lead and then forced a fumble late to escape with a 22-15 win in the bi-district round of the UIL 6A Division I playoffs at Allen's Eagle Stadium.

Entering Thursday's playoff opener, the Eagles came in 10-0, winning nine of those games by double digits. Their lone escape came in a District 6-6A showdown at Prosper on Oct. 23, with Allen surviving, 31-30.

But the Fighting Farmers (8-3) hung tough with the Eagles (11-0), and even took a 15-14 lead early in the fourth quarter. However, Allen responded with its huge go-ahead drive and advance into the area round, where the Eagles will face the winner of Friday's bi-district playoff between Lake Highlands and South Grand Prairie.
