Tim Dwight is returning home.
The former University of Iowa and NFL star has been added to the football coaching staff at his alma mater, Iowa City High.
Dwight, who starred for the Little Hawks before becoming an All-American for the Hawkeyes, will join the team for the coming season.
The 49-year-old earned Gatorade Player of the Year honors in 1993 prior to becoming a consensus All-American at Iowa where he also made all-Big Ten. Dwight played football and ran track for the Hawkeyes.

After finishing seventh in the 1997 Heisman Trophy voting, Dwight was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL Draft. He was a fourth round pick, carving out a career that included stints with five teams and almost 200 receptions and 27 total touchdowns.
Dwight experienced one of his best seasons in the NFL during his second year in the league. He played in 12 games with eight starts, catching 32 passes for what would be a career-high 669 yards and seven touchdowns - also a career-best.
He averaged almost 21 yards per reception that season and had a rushing touchdown and a punt return for another score. In his second year with the San Diego Chargers in 2002, Dwight played in all 16 games with 14 starts, 50 receptions, 108 yards rushing and a 12.2-yard-per-average on punt returns - all marking career-highs.
In his final season in 2007, Dwight was limited to just six games, catching six passes with two of them going for touchdowns.
Iowa City High has recorded four consecutive winning seasons, going 6-4 each of the past three after a 10-2 run in 2021. The Little Hawks are set to return star running back Dawson Kahl, receiver Chayse Newton and key defenders Blaine Heick, Marshall Sheldon and Raphael Etuma.
