Both Anna and Lucas Lovejoy played two high-scoring games against one another last season.

Each time, Lovejoy came out on top, winning a regular-season game 66-62 and then claiming a playoff rematch, 52-49, in the third round of the 5A Division II playoffs.

Friday night, Anna’s Coyotes travel to Lovejoy to take on the Leopards in a key District 4-5AII matchup.

Anna comes into Friday’s rematch at 2-0. The Coyotes have one of the top quarterbacks in the Dallas-Fort Worth “Metroplex” in senior Ziondre Williams, who helped Anna win a state title his sophomore year.

Williams has completed 31-of-59 passes this season for 358 yards and four touchdowns.

Lovejoy also returns its quarterback in Jacob Janecek, also a senior. Janecek has thrown for 301 yards on 23-of-37 passing with five TDs.

The Leopards enter Friday’s game at 2-1 and won their district opener last week, 63-19, against Frisco Liberty. This will be Anna’s district opener.
