A pair of Texas teams that turned in impressive regular season now want to start the postseason at 1-0.

Dallas Kimball and Sulphur Springs square off in the bi-district round of the University Interscholastic League 4A Division I playoffs Thursday night. The game will be played at Mesquite's Memorial Stadium.

Kimball finished the regular season at 7-3, and the Knights finished in a three-way tie for the District 8-4A Division I title along with two more Dallas schools - Carter and Lincoln. The Knights enter postseason play having won their last three regular season games and six of their past seven contests.

Sulphur Springs finished 9-1, with the Wildcats' lone defeat coming to defending 4A DI champion Celina. The Wildcats were the runner-up behind Celina in District 7-4A Division I.

Since that loss to Celina, Sulphur Springs won its last four games to end the regular season, including edging Frisco Panther Creek, 20-13, last week.

THIRD QUARTER

- Second half action is now under way. 

HALFTIME

- Sulphur Springs out-gained Kimball in the first half, 293-127. QB Mason Cooper was 13-of-17 passing for 229 yards and three TDs, and tailback Jaxson Haire rushed for 65 yards on 13 carries and two TDs and also caught six passes for 64 yards and another score.

SECOND QUARTER

- Kimball had the ball near the Sulphur Springs 10 at the end of the first half, but on the final play, a pass to the end zone falls incomplete. 

- TOUCHDOWN SULPHUR SPRINGS. Wildcats with a methodical 94-yard drive that takes 17 plays to complete. Jaxson Haire has his third total TD on the night with a 2-yard run. Try for two fails, but the Wildcats still in command. (Sulphur Springs, 34-3 | 1:50, 2nd) 

- Sulphur Springs forces Kimball to punt again, and the Wildcats are aiming to score again with nearly four minutes to go in the half. 

- TOUCHDOWN SULPHUR SPRINGS. A third TD pass from Mason Cooper, and the second this quarter to Jaxon Virgel, this covering 41 yards. Wildcats miss the PAT kick, making it 28-3. (Sulphur Springs, 28-3 | 4:45, 2nd) 

- TOUCHDOWN SULPHUR SPRINGS. Wildcats force Kimball to punt, and on the next play, Mason Cooper strikes deep, finding Jaxon Virgel from 40 yards out for Cooper's second scoring pass on the night. (Sulphur Springs, 22-3 | 9:57, 2nd) 

- TOUCHDOWN SULPHUR SPRINGS. Jaxson Haire with his second TD on the night, this time catching an 11-yard pass from QB Mason Cooper. Wildcats then go for two and get it, as Haire runs it in. (Sulphur Springs, 15-3 | 11:33, 2nd) 

FIRST QUARTER

- FIELD GOAL KIMBALL. Drive stalls at the 5, but the Knights are able to connect on a 22-yard field goal to cut the Sulphur Springs lead to four. (Sulphur Springs, 7-3 |:46, 1st) 

- Kimball converts on a fourth-and-short and the Knights are inside the Sulphur Springs 10.

- Sulphur Springs forced Kimball to punt on its first series, but the Knights just come up with a fumble recovery inside Wildcat territory. 

- TOUCHDOWN SULPHUR SPRINGS. Wildcats take the opening kickoff and punches it in, as Jaxson Haire goes in from 3 yards out for his 17th TD on the season and the 42nd TD in his illustrious Wildcat career. (Sulphur Springs, 7-0 | 7:09, 1st) 

- Sulphur Springs converts on third down and the Wildcats are inside Kimball's 30.

- Sulphur Springs fields the opening kickoff, and the Wildcats break off a long return and get it out to near midfield.
