There is never an off day in the Catholic League -- one of Louisiana's most competitive districts.

The opening week of Catholic League play pits two of Louisiana's top teams -- Archbishop Rummel and John Curtis -- against each other to see who will get an early jump in the district standings at 1-0. Rummel has taken the last two games in the series, including a 14-7 win last season, but the head-to-head matchup is even at 6-6 over the last 12 matchups.

Rummel has won two straight games after losing its opener to Lafayette Christian by a missed extra point. Runnning backs Jaden Terrance and Coryan Hawkins combined to rush for 192 yards and two touchdowns to bolster the Raider run game last week against Archbishop Shaw.

John Curtis is fresh of a bye and is 2-0 after wins against Cathedral (Calif.) and Northshore. The Patriots' run game has been unstoppable this season with it averaging 530.5 yards.
