Pakistan and Oman will kick off their Asia Cup 2025 campaign when they face each other at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Pakistan will be arriving at this mega event on a phenomenal winning momentum on their back, having clinched the Tri-Series trophy after beating Afghanistan in the final match last Sunday. The Men in Green have lost only two games in their last 8 T20I outings. The Salman Agha-led side will look to carry the same form going into this tournament.

Oman, on the other end, is set to make their debut in the Asia Cup tournament this year. This will make them the ninth team in history to do so. They are coming to this tournament after qualifying through the ACC Premier Cup in 2024. However, their only concern is their form; the Gulf nation is winless in their last five T20I outings.

The Sporting News looks at the key details ahead of this game, including how to watch the match, kickoff times and the latest lineup news.

Pakistan vs. Oman Asia Cup match predicted XIs, team news

Pakistan has a solid, formidable squad for this tournament, where they have everything sorted from the top order to the bowling lineup.

After a sensational Tri-Series, it is unlikely that Pakistan will make major changes to their playing XI for this match. They have an attacking opening pair of right- and left-arm batters, including Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub; Fakhar Zaman will join them at number three. With no Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in the team, the middle-order responsibilities become a tough task, for which they have Hasan Nawaz, Salman Agha, and Mohammad Haris

They also have a few strong all-rounders in the squad, as Mohammad Nawaz and Khushdil Shah are two spin all-rounders, whereas Hussain Tahalat and Faheem Ashraf have been included as pace bowling all-rounders in the squad. But considering the slow surface of Dubai and Nawaz's match-winning performance in the Tri-Series final, he will get a nod ahead of the rest.

On the bowling front, Shaheen Afridi will lead the bowling attack along with Haris Rauf, and either Faheem Ashraf or Salman Mirza will join the starting lineup as the third pacer. Sufiyan Muqeem has done well for the team as the spinner; he is highly likely be retaining his place for this opening match.

Pakistan predicted XI: Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, Salman Agha (c), Hasan Nawaz, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Haris (wk), Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi, Sufiyan Muqeem, Faheem Ashraf/Salman Mirza.

As for Oman, they have a squad but are not as competitive as Pakistan in this tournament. The Gulf Nation features a mixed squad of Indian and Pakistani players.

They have a solid opening pair of Aamir Kaleem and Jatinder Singh. They also have Hammad Mirza and Vinay Shukla as their wicketkeeper batters, who can play a crucial role with the bat in the middle order. The Gulf Nation has also added four uncapped players to the squad; it will be interesting to see if anyone gets added.

Shakeel Ahmed, who has been in top form lately, will continue to be the leading spinner in the team along with leg spinner Samay Shrivastava. On the pace bowling front, Muhammad Imran is highly likely to lead the bowling attack with Sufyan Mehmood.

Oman predicted XI: Aamir Kaleem, Jatinder Singh (c), Hammad Mirza, Mohammed Nadeem, Vinayak Shukla (wk), Karan Sonavale, Shakeel Ahmad, Muhammed Imran, Shakeel Ahmed, Sufyan Mehmood, Samay Shrivastava.
