In a rematch of last year's final, Jessica Pegula will take on World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the US Open 2025 semifinals on Thursday.
Pegula advanced to the final four at Flushing Meadows for the second consecutive year after beating Barbora Krejcikova 6-3, 6-3. The win marked her fourth consecutive match without dropping a set.
This is also a turnaround for Pegula, who hasn't ventured deep in any competition since her title win at Bad Homburg in June. That was followed by a spate of early exits, including a frustrating first-round exit to 116th ranked Elisabetta Cocciaretto at the Wimbledon.
The American is now looking to avenge her 2024 finals defeat to Sabalenka. The top seed received a walkover into the semifinals, after her opponent Marketa Vondrousova withdrew due to a knee injury.
In head-to-head series, Sabalenka holds a 7-2 advantage over Pegula. The Belarusian also leads 4-2 in matchups on hard courts.
