Wrexham's promotion hopes toward Premier League get huge EFL Championship standings boost with late goal image

Wrexham is playing its first season in second-division football in 43 years.

And they're making a real good run at a promotion spot.

Wrexham earned a crucial point Saturday in a 1-1 draw. 

Max Cleworth scored an epic equalizer in the 95th minute. Blackburn Rovers had scored in the 13th minute and held that lead all the way until stoppage time.

Wrexham is just three points out of sixth place in the EFL Championship. Third-through-sixth earn spots in the promotion playoff. The No. 1 and 2 finishers are automatically promoted to the English Premier League.

The home faithful certainly enjoyed this one.

Wrexham has a long season still to go. But right now, they're at least giving themselves a fighting chance to make a run at promotion.
