Two tournament debutants will lock horns in Hamilton as Portugal and Vietnam look to win their first ever match at a Women's World Cup.

Both sides come into the game off the back of defeats, though both can be proud of their performances against the two finalists of the 2019 World Cup.

Vietnam were resilient in defence and had their goalkeeper Tran Thi Kim Thanh save an Alex Morgan penalty, but they were eventually overrun by the heavyweights 3-0 in Auckland.

Portugal, meanwhile, were able to frustrate and limit the attacking opportunities for the Netherlands in their opening match in Dunedin, but an early first-half header for the Dutch eventually helped them get a 1-0 win.

Portugal vs Vietnam lineups

Despite defeat, Portugal are unlikely to make many changes given their positive performance. Diana Encarnacao looked exciting off the bench against the Netherlands and may have played her way into the starting side.

Portugal projected starting lineup (4-4-2): Pereira (GK) — Borges, Costa, Gomes, Amado —  T. Pinto, D. Silva , F. Pinto, Norton  — J. Silva, Encarnacao

Vietnam may be without the services of Thi Bich Thuy Nguyen, who went off injured midway through the second half against the USA. Thi My Anh Nguyen looks the most likely candidate to replace her.

Vietnam projected starting lineup (5-4-1): Kim Thanh (GK) — Thu Thao, Thu Thuong, Diem My, Thi Thu, Thi Loan — Nguyen, Huynh Nhu, Tuyet Dung, Thi Thao — Hai Linh

Portugal vs Vietnam betting odds

Portugal are short-priced favourites to win their first ever match at a Women's World Cup, with the Europeans expected to be too strong for Vietnam.

They are also predicted to get a clean sheet, with longer odds on both teams scoring in the match.
