The Netherlands will hope to take one step closer to qualifying for the 2026 Fifa World Cup when they take on Malta in the European Group G clash on Thursday.

Following a 1-1 draw with Poland, Ronald Koeman's side returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Lithuania. They lead the group with 10 points, ahead of second-placed Poland on goal difference.

On the other hand, Malta remain winless in the qualifiers, with only two points to their name after two stalemates with Lithuania. 

This will be the second time both sides meet in this World Cup qualifying campaign, with the Netherlands routing Malta 8-0 at home earlier.
