England are the champions of UEFA Women's EURO 2022 after they beat Germany in the final at Wembley, 2-1 after extra-time.

The hosts put on an incredible performance against Sweden at Bramall Lane in the semi-final, having edged Spain after extra-time in the first quarter-final. They had already stunned the continent with their 8-0 demolition of Norway on matchday 2, with Beth Mead clocking a hat-trick and taking an early lead in the Golden Boot standings - and she lifted that trophy as well as the player of the tournament award.

Germany had also been in the goals and showing just why they're up there with the favourites to win the tournament, with Alexandra Popp scoring in every match so far - including a brace against France in their semi-final - but she was ruled out of the final after picking up an injury in the warmup.

Dutch hotshot Vivianne Miedema, who scored 14 times for Arsenal during the 2021/22 season, had a quiet start in the Netherlands' opening match against Sweden - and was then struck down with COVID-19. She returned for the showdown with France in Rotherham but couldn't make an impact, with the defending champions falling by the wayside.
