Paris Saint-Germain haven't been extremely active in the transfer market this summer but they have made a lot of player sales allowing their fringe players to find permanent destinations.

A couple of days ago, Carlos Soler completed his move to Real Sociedad and now it is time for Marco Asensio to take that step in the market as he is not in Luis Enrique's plans for the 2025/26 season.

According to transfer insider, Fabrizio Romano's reports, Premier League outfit Aston Villa are close to agreeing terms with Asensio on a permanent deal.

The Spain international had spent half of last season at Villa Park and Unai Emery was very impressed with the 29-year-old's performance in the Premier League and also in Champions League

Several sources suggest that Villa are pushing for another loan move but with only a year left in his contract, PSG are not ready to accept a loan deal.

The Parisians are looking for a bid in the region of €20m ($23.3m) to part ways with Asensio but Aston Villa have reportedly offered €15m for the experienced attacking midfielder.

Why are Aston Villa willing to sign Asensio?

Following his successful years at Real Madrid, Asensio moved to PSG in 2023 after running out his contract with Los Blancos.

Despite his move, the Spaniard never really managed to cement his place in the starting lineup and hence he switched to Villa on loan in the winter transfer window last season.

The former Real Madrid striker hammered eight goals and one assist in 21 appearances for the Birmingham-based Premier League side.

The 29-year-old was sensational in the Champions League for the Villans, netting three goals in four matches.

Asensio developed a great synergy with the Villa players last season and with Jacob Ramsey's move to Newcastle United, Emery is looking to bring the Spaniard as his direct replacement.
