The 2025 UEFA Champions League final will see Paris Saint-Germain face Inter Milan in Munich.
It is the second time in three seasons that the Nerazzurri have made it all the way to the most prestigious match in European club football. They defeated city rivals AC Milan to reach the 2022/23 final, where they lost 1-0 to Manchester City.
Italian sides haven't had the best of luck in continental tournaments over the past decade or so, although things have begun to change in recent seasons. Roma managed to win the inaugural Conference League in 2022, after which Fiorentina twice reached the final and lost. Atalanta claimed the 2023/24 Europa League trophy, their 3-0 hammering of Bayer Leverkusen underlining their impressive rise to prominence under Gian Piero Gasperini.
That gives hope to Calcio fans that this year will bring an end to the long wait for an Italian team to win the biggest prize European club football has to offer.

When was the last time an Italian team won the Champions League?
Inter are the Italian side with the most recent Champions League title. They won the trophy in 2010 under the guidance of Jose Mourinho.
Diego Milito scored twice in the final against Bayern Munich as the Nerazzurri won 2-0 in Madrid. It was a momentous occasion for more than one reason because the European title meant Inter won the treble of Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League trophies in the 2009/10 season, becoming the first Serie A side in history to achieve that feat.
Inter had a poor start to their Champions League campaign, failing to win any of their first three matches and only snatching a late victory in their fourth away to Dynamo Kyiv. They managed to finish second in the group, behind Barcelona, and make the knockout rounds. Mourinho's side then beat Chelsea, CSKA Moscow, and Barca over two legs to reach the final.

Juve have had poor luck in the Champions League over the years, losing seven times in the final. No side has finished as runners-up in the competition on more occasions.
The Bianconeri were the last Italian side to reach the final, losing in 2017 to Real Madrid, having lost two years earlier to Barcelona.
Fiorentina, Roma and Sampdoria have all reached the final of this competition once, but each side suffered defeat.
