Bayern Munich are looking for a long-term replacement for Harry Kane and keeping an eye on Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic who is in the last year of his contract and can leave as a free agent next summer.

Juventus paid around €80m [$94m] to sign Vlahovic from Fiorentina in January 2022 and he became Serie A’s highest paid player when a big loyalty bonus pushed him above various established players in the Italian top division.

Vlahovic has been Juventus’ top scorer for three seasons in a row but many fans feel he hasn’t been consistent enough to match the goals he scored in Florence where he had 49 goals in two and a half seasons before he joined.

Juventus reportedly explored selling Vlahovic this past summer after securing Jonathan David and Loic Openda but no club was prepared to cover his high salary which left him in Turin despite the club’s desire to move him on and reduce wage expenditure.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano explained the current situation by saying

“Bayern Munich are thinking long-term about their replacement for Harry Kane and have made calls for Dusan Vlahovic to inquire about his contract situation at Juventus.

Several other clubs in Europe are also keeping an eye on Vlahovic because he is available on a free transfer at the end of the season.”

With contract extension talks stalled and no progress in sight Juventus may now have to prepare for life after Vlahovic while Bayern and other European clubs continue to monitor a striker who remains only 25-years-old.
