Manchester City have loaned out several of their first-team players in the summer transfer window.

One of their prominent loanees is Manuel Akanji, who made a temporary move to Inter Milan on deadline day on a season-long contract that includes an option to buy.

After falling out of favor at Etihad, Akanji joined Inter and has already established his spot in the starting squad.

In just two months at San Siro, Akanji has turned things around, starting in five out of the six appearances he has made so far, and it seems that the Swiss defender has turned a corner and could have secured an extended stay at the Italian club.

Being impressed with his performances, Inter Milan are considering activating Akanji's buyout clause at the end of the season to sign the 30-year-old permanently for €15m, according to Tuttosport via FCInterNews.

Inter Milan's chairman and CEO, Beppe Marotta, has reportedly conveyed the club's plans of making a permanent transfer for Akanji to the defender's agents as they plan on offering him a contract running until 2028.

Manchester City's Manuel Akanji reveals why he joined Inter Milan

Following his loan move to Inter Milan, Akanji explained his decision to join the Serie A club and told reporters,

"Because it's one of the best clubs in Europe, nothing could be simpler. As for the objectives, it's difficult to talk about them because I've only just met my new teammates. I'm not sure what the expectations are, but obviously winning the league, always," as per GOAL.

"When you play for Inter, all of this is normal. And the Champions League too. They came so close, I hope to help them achieve that goal this year."

Following the international break this week, Akanji and Inter Milan will return to Serie A action in their clash against Roma on October 18.
