Chelsea have been looking to sell Ben Chilwell throughout the ongoing transfer window, but have failed to attract potential buyers for the player.

One of the reasons why Chelsea have not been able to find a suitor for Chilwell is his wages, which make him one of the club's highest earners.

The left-back spent the second half of last season out on loan at Crystal Palace, but the Eagles have shown no interest in signing him permanently since then.

To the extent that the Blues even considered ripping up Chilwell’s contract at one point in the summer.

But now, with just hours to go before the transfer window shuts, the Blues seem to have found a solution to their problem.

Enzo Maresca’s team seem set to sell Chilwell to their sister team, Strasbourg in France.

Chelsea have decided to sell Ben Chilwell to Strasbourg

Both being owned by BlueCo, Chelsea have done a lot of business with Strasbourg during this transfer window.

For instance, they have sent the likes of Kendry Paez and Mike Penders to their sister club on loan and could now be about to send Chilwell there.

According to journalist Bobby Vincent, Chelsea plans to sell Chilwell to Strasbourg before the end of the transfer window.

The English international is not the only defender who could leave Stamford Bridge in the final few hours of the window, as Axel Disasi is also being linked with a move away.

Earlier in the window, Chilwell was linked with a reunion with former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard, who wanted him at Coventry City.

However, a move to Strasbourg seems more likely for the former Leicester City man.

It is in Chilwell’s best interest to make this move happen. He is clearly not rated by Enzo Maresca and has two players in his position: Marc Cucurella and Jorrel Hato.

If Chilwell does not leave Chelsea now, he risks not playing football until January.
