Chelsea supporters have grown increasingly frustrated with uncertainty in the goalkeeping position after Robert Sanchez’s costly dismissal against Manchester United and Filip Jorgensen’s shaky League Cup showing against Lincoln City.

The club’s hierarchy had the chance to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer but they didn't. According to the Teamtalk, the strategy revolves around securing AC Milan’s Mike Maignan whose contract expires in 2026.

The Frenchman has also shown unwillingness to extend its contract and that has encouraged Chelsea that a deal is realistic can be done for Milan star.

Maignan who turns 30 this year has maintained interest in joining the Premier League.

His numbers clearly reflect why Chelsea view him as a solution with a save percentage of 72% and a clean sheet rate of 29.3%, placing him above the majority of top flight keepers.

Fbref, data also shows Maignan averages over 43 touches per match ranking in the 89 percentile, while his defensive actions outside the penalty area stand at 1.59 per 90 minutes, putting him in the 85 percentile which shows his ability to command space behind his defense.
