It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone to see that Mitch Marner's first one-on-one interview with TSN since leaving Toronto has generated major storylines.
The Markham, Ontario, native has often been the talk of the town over the last year, and that's continued to be the case following his departure. Marner's sit-down with TSN's Mark Masters was short, but it certainly delivered plenty of answers and headlines that fans were looking for.
One of those topics was the rumored safety concerns he dealt with after the Maple Leafs' most recent playoff loss to the Florida Panthers. Marner dove into the details, which included his address being shared online, forcing him to hire full-time security for several weeks following the end of the season.
That has, of course, sparked mass conversation around the hockey world, and on Tuesday, general manager Brad Treliving spoke about the situation for the first time. Sportsnet's Eric Engels shared his comments on X (formerly Twitter).
"In our business, your no. 1 priority is looking after your players, and I think we do a really good job of it. I don’t have any concerns that we don’t do everything humanly possible to make sure that they’re looked after, but in today’s world, you never take anything not seriously. In today’s world—and it can go for Toronto, it can go for any market with social media—the lion’s share of people can have good, honest discourse but there’s always the ones that cross the line. It’s unfortunate, but we always take every precaution necessary to make sure our guys are looked after," Treliving said.
Caught up with Toronto Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving following Mitch Marner's revelation in an interview with TSN's @markhmasters last week that he was concerned for his family's safety after his home address leaked online last spring. More coming @Sportsnet, but here are…

After nine tremendous seasons as a Maple Leaf, the 28-year-old fled for Vegas this offseason in what turned out to be a sign-and-trade, where he then inked an eight-year, $96 million contract with the Golden Knights.
Marner's return to Toronto will be fascinating
Fans will have to wait a little while to see Mitch Marner and the Vegas Golden Knights come to Toronto for their yearly matchup with the Maple Leafs.
Vegas is not scheduled to play in Toronto until Friday, January 23rd, in what should be one of the more highly anticipated games on the 2025-26 regular season calendar.
The fan reception will likely be split, though this breakup has gotten ugly, which has left everyone curious as to how things will go in Mitch Marner's return home.
