The Washington Commanders were back on the practice field on Friday for their second-to-last session ahead of the Week 6 game against the Chicago Bears on Monday night.
According to the team's official injury report, wide receiver Terry McLaurin (quad) was once again a non-participant, which keeps him on track to miss his third consecutive game.
Meanwhile, fellow receiver Deebo Samuel (heel) saw an uptick in participation on Friday. He was a limited participant after not practicing at all on Thursday.
Samuel was listed with rest as one of the reasons he was out on Thursday, so his lack of participation to start the week was likely load management more than injury-related.
Earlier this week, head coach Dan Quinn said he was "optimistic" that McLaurin would play against the Bears, but we are clearly not heading in that direction.
"Quinn said he's 'optimistic' about Terry McLaurin for this week and reiterates that he and others -- Noah Brown, Sam Cosmi -- are trending in the right direction. Having the extra day helps," ESPN's John Keim reported.
McLaurin has made some progress, though, as he was spotted doing some work on a side field during the week.
While things aren't looking good for McLaurin right now, bear in mind that he does have an extra day this week to get right. Things could change over in the next few days leading up to Monday.
The Commanders will drop their final injury report of the week on Saturday, so we'll know more then about McLaurin's status.
