Cam Ward has learned the art of winning hearts wherever he goes. Last month, it was the NFL teams, particularly the Titans, during the pre-draft build-up, and this month it is the rest of his Titans rookie class.
Ward's workouts during the rookie minicamp are garnering much appreciation from his fellow rookies, per ESPN.
"He's just a great leader. Super easy to talk to, super easy to connect with, super easy to communicate with on the field," TE Gunner Helm said.
"You've just got to get it while it's hot, so if there's something wrong with the rep, you just have to run it back and get it right. He gets the ball out really fast, which is great and something I have to get used to," wideout Elic Ayomanor lauded Ward's skills after the two did several reps during the rookie minicamp.
Wideout Chimere Dike attested to Ayomanor's review of Ward and further praised his leadership qualities.
"Cam's been great working with us receivers. He's a really good leader and has that presence on the field and throws the ball really well," Dike wrote.
The already-becoming-a-star rookie Ward emphasized the importance he gives to having a connection with them: a quality that automatically reflects his inherent leadership qualities.
"It is me more opening up to my new teammates," Ward said. "Them getting a chance to know me. I already know X [former Miami and current Titans teammate Xavier Restrepo] and have a connection with him. I got to connect pieces with my other guys."
For what it's worth, Ward had reportedly strongly advocated for Restrepo to be signed with his franchise.
Ward has made sure all his leadership qualities are on full display. If he manages to impress the veterans equally and form a rapport with them starting Monday, he will undoubtedly be the next face of the Titans.
