The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have an injury concern with wide receiver Mike Evans ahead of their Week 4 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Evans sustained a hamstring injury in the fourth quarter of the game against the New York Jets and did not return to action. He was very clearly in pain upon exiting the field, which led to no shortage of concern.
Now, according to a new report, it looks like the Buccaneers are going to be without their top wide receiver for a few games.
Here's the latest update.
Mike Evans injury update
According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Evans is expected to miss multiple weeks with his hamstring injury. Pelissero adds that the injury isn't as bad as the hamstring issue he had in 2024 that forced him to miss three games.
"Bucs WR Mike Evans is expected to miss multiple weeks because of the hamstring injury he suffered Sunday, sources tell The Insiders. Evans’ hamstring injury isn’t as bad as last year’s, which sidelined him three games," Pelissero reported. "But he’s expected to be out for a bit."
The Bucs have been riddled with injuries in their wide receivers room to start the season.
Along with Evans, Jalen McMillan is also sidelined and veteran Chris Godwin has yet to play in a game this season, but the hope is that he returns this week or next.
Even rookie Emeka Egbuka was playing with an injury in Week 3, although he seems to have come out of the game against the Jets without any further issues.
Assuming he comes back in Week 4, the Bucs will need a major contribution from Godwin right out of the gate, although he might not be able to provide that given the possibility the Bucs ease him back into action.
Egbuka could be in line for a massive role this Sunday, and the Bucs will need guys like Sterling Shepard, Ryan Miller and Tez Johnson to step up, also.
