Bucs legend Tom Brady breaks silence on involvement in Raiders passing on Shedeur Sanders, deemed untruthful image

Tom Brady claimed he didn’t have anything to do with his Las Vegas Raiders passing on Shedeur Sanders seven times during the 2025 NFL draft, amidst the ex-Colorado star’s fall to the fifth round to the Cleveland Browns.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio doesn’t believe the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots legend.

Florio claimed Brady was simply giving owner-speak, and more specifically, preserving his relationship with Shedeur, Deion, and the entire Sanders family, while commenting on the matter.

“While, technically, the quarterback for 2025 (and perhaps beyond) has been selected, why wouldn’t Brady’s ‘huge voice’ include participating in the evaluation of someone like Sanders — especially since Brady (as he said) knows him ‘very well’?” Florio asked.

“Meanwhile, Brady was clearly involved in the evaluation and selection of quarterback Cam Miller, in round six.

“Common sense suggests that Brady was treading lightly, so as not to undermine his relationship with Sanders. Even if it means taking a position that directly conflicts with things his boss has said, on the record.”

Brady and Co. committed to Geno Smith with a two-year extension following his trade from the Seattle Seahawks. While Smith’s play style was seen as a good mentor fit for Shedeur, Brady knew more than most what Coach Prime’s shadow would entail as his son rode the pine.

He may end up being cut by the Cleveland Browns, but at least Shedeur has a chance to start, too. It’s that dysfunctional in “The Land” right now.

In Las Vegas, Sanders would’ve had to wait on Smith indefinitely.
