The Seattle Seahawks are parting ways with a rookie defender just two days after signing him.

According to Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune, the Seahawks waived rookie defensive lineman Thor Griffith. In a corresponding move, the team signed undrafted cornerback Keydrain Calligan.

In 2024 at Louisville, Griffith recorded 19 total tackles and three sacks. While his stats won’t blow you away, his value came from playing a position where the Seahawks lack depth.

Because of his unique name and the importance of his position, Griffith quickly became a highly anticipated rookie among Seahawks fans.

Although Griffith is no longer with the team, Keydrain Calligan is an intriguing addition for Seahawks fans to be excited about.

Calligan played at Jackson State in 2023 before transferring to Southeastern Louisiana for his final college season.

At Jackson State, Calligan posted 19 total tackles and one interception in 10 games.

While his stats may not stand out, Calligan is considered an athletic freak.

According to the Relative Athletic Score (RAS), Calligan "scored an 8.78 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 338th out of 2,752 cornerbacks from 1987 to 2025."

Not to mention, Calligan stands at 6-foot-1 and is 200 pounds.

While we're sorry to see Thor go, Calligan is a talented athlete Seahawks fans can look forward to watching.
