The Seahawks enter 2025 after a major shake-up in offense, including trading away long-time starters Geno Smith and DK Metcalf while replacing offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb with Klint Kubiak.
A lot rests on which version of quarterback Sam Darnold turns up in his first year at Seattle. He is coming off a career-best year with the Vikings, where he threw for 4,319 yards and 35 touchdowns, but he will need to replicate the same production with a weaker offensive line.
Swapping Smith for Darnold appears risky, and adding Cooper Kupp at wide receiver to replace Metcalf could prove to be a downgrade. So, the pressure is on Kupp to quickly build chemistry with Jaxon Smith-Njigba in a revamped receiving corps.
Head coach Mike Macdonald will likely rely on his defense, which ranked among the top 10 in sacks last season, to keep Seattle in contention. The Seahawks were also the only team with double-digit wins to miss the postseason in 2024, making an NFC West push and a playoff berth the clear priority this season.
