After showing interest in him on multiple occasions this offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers have missed out on veteran wide receiver Gabriel Davis.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Davis is signing with the Buffalo Bills in free agency. The expectation is Davis will join Buffalo's practice squad.

The Steelers met with Davis twice during the offseason, with the last meeting taking place in August.

Pittsburgh definitely could've used his services thanks to their uncertain situation at wide receiver, where the team doesn't have an adequate No. 2 option behind DK Metcalf.

As far as the Steelers adding a wide receiver before Week 1 goes, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette doesn't think it's going to happen.

"At this point, highly unlikely," Dulac said.

On Tuesday, head coach Mike Tomlin said he has confidence in Calvin Austin and Roman Wilson and downplayed the need for a true No. 2 receiver because of the depth the team has at tight end with Jonnu Smith and Pat Freiermuth.

The Steelers will likely keep their ear to the ground for any available wide receivers, but for now it looks like they're rolling with what they have.
