The Philadelphia Eagles thought they had found a solution.
They traded for cornerback Jaire Alexander on Nov. 1. He was set to be their boundary cornerback opposite Quinyon Mitchell.
But now he might never play for Philly.
This is what The Athletic's Dianna Russini wrote on X:
"Eagles CB Jaire Alexander has informed the team he is stepping away from the team to focus on getting right physically and mentally, per source. The 28-year-old is contemplating retirement."
Fans are quickly wondering what the Eagles had to give up to get Alexander, because it's not aging well at the moment.

What did the Eagles trade for Jaire Alexander?
The Eagles' trade for Jaire Alexander involved two draft picks.
The full terms were this:
- Eagles get: Jaire Alexander, 7th-round pick
- Ravens get: 6th-round pick
So it was just a small draft pick upgrade in the deal.
The Ravens had signed Alexander before the season after the Green Bay Packers released their former star.
It's been an unusual season for Alexander for sure, and now his NFL future is uncertain.
